Sickness

I've decided it's escalating, 3 days in a row. Before, it was sort of every other day and last 2 days its been in the evening. Hmm maybe I am trying to see patterns where there arn't any! lol

Bought flooring for nursery. Can't put it down yet though until radiators are in and got rid of bed. Also all the other junk needs a new home lol.
1st Midwife Appointment - Booking In :)

She was lovely and didn't moan about my weight at all, phew lol. We were in there about an hour answering questions, blood pressure, urine test etc.

Have to go up the hospital Monday for booking blood/urine tests. Not long after that I should have a letter through saying when my scan will be. I will see the midwife again in about 6 weeks. We agreed to the screening test for down syndrome, (partly as I thought I wouldn't get a scan otherwise lol) but not the diagnostic ones where they draw off fluid.

Came home from that and pigged out on pizza and onion rings, I was hungry! :D Oh and was sick last night at 10.15! Thats the latest so far.

The Pregnancy Ten Commandments

1. The appropriate response to a couple telling you they are having a baby is "Congratulations" with enthusiasm. Any other response makes you a jerk.

2. Through the wonders of science, we now know that babies are made ONLY by the mother and father- not grandparents. Unless the baby is in your uterus, or you are the man that helped put it there, you may not ever use the phrase "my baby"

3. On the same note, unless you made the baby as defined in #2, the pregnancy, birth and the raising of the child are not about you. You do not have input. No one wants to hear your opinion unless they ask for it.

4. The body of a pregnant woman should be treated the same as any other body. You would not randomly touch someone's stomach if they were not pregnant, nor would you inquire into the condition of their uterus, cervix or how they plan to use their breasts. Pregnancy does not remove all traces of privacy from a woman.

5. Likewise, no woman wants to hear comments on her weight- ever. A pregnant woman does not find it flattering that you think she is about to pop, must be having twins, looks swollen or has gained weight in her face. Telling her she looks too small only makes her worry that she is somehow starving her baby. Making such comments invite her to critique your physical appearance and you may not act offended. The only acceptable comment on appearance is "You look fabulous!"

6. Most of us have picked up on the fact that summer is hot. We are hot every summer when we are not pregnant. We don't need you to point out that we will be miserably hot before the baby comes.

7. There is a reason that tickets to Labor & Delivery are not yet sold on Ticketmaster. Childbirth is actually not a public event. It may sound crazy, but some women really do not relish the idea of their mother, mother-in-law or a host of other family members seeing their bare butt or genitals. Also, some people simply feel like the birth of their child is a private and emotional moment to be shared only by the parents.

8. Like everything else in life, unless you receive an invitation, you are not invited. This includes doctor appointments, ultrasounds, labor, delivery, the hospital and the parents' home. You do not decide if you will be there for the birth or if you will move in with the new parents to "help out". If your assistance is desired, rest assured that you will be asked for it.

9. If you are asked to help after the birth, this means you should clean up the house, help with cooking meals, and generally stay out of the way. Holding the baby more than the parents, interfering with breastfeeding and sleeping schedules and making a woman who is still leaking fluid from various locations lift a finger in housework is not helping.

10. The only people entitled to time with the baby are the parents. Whether they choose to have you at the hospital for the birth or ask you to wait 3 weeks to visit, appreciate that you are being given the privilege of seeing their child. Complaining or showing disappointment only encourages the parents to include you less.

Some of these are funny and some common sense lol :D

Last Day of Pessaries!!!

Forgot to say, last one was Sunday night. I wonder if there is a small chance of my bloating going down a bit for a while now? heh. The clinic billed me for these things, which I have now sorted out, i'm NHS. They are way expensive! They are about £18 a box and I've gone through 4 boxes!

Cravings

Well don't think I have many new ones, but I do seem to be wanting Salt n Vinegar flavored crisps alot. They were stopping my nausea but I dispproved that a while ago lol.

Hmm and juice, but then I always fancy that. I also keep wanting jelly, will add that to the shopping list lol.

I've gone off my favorite snack which is annoying. Rice cakes with tuna and mayo paste on. Also smoked haddock, which I love, theres some in the fridge which is now out of date as I just couldn't stomach it.
9 Weeks Today!

"By the tenth week of pregnancy, you may find yourself riding pregnancy's emotional roller coaster, feeling moody one day and joyful the next. Disturbing as this is to some women who pride themselves on being in control, what you're going through is normal and will probably continue throughout your pregnancy. Up-and-down emotions are partly caused by raging hormones.

At week's end, your fetus measures approximately 0.9 inches / 2.3 centimetres long. In both shape and size, it resembles a peapod and weighs less than a tenth of an ounce / 2 grams. The eyelids are fused and won't open until week 27. The wrists are more developed, ankles have formed, and the fingers and toes are clearly visible. Arms are growing longer and bend at the elbows. By week's end, the inner workings of the ears are complete. Though you can't yet identify the sex of the fetus by ultrasound, its genitals have begun to form. By now the placenta has developed enough to support most of the critical job of producing hormones.

You will soon need to make decisions about antenatal screening, and we have a complete guide to antenatal tests. If you're over 35 or have a family history of genetic illness, you may want to consider a chorionic villus sampling (CVS), an antenatal test usually carried out between ten and 12 weeks that screens for birth defects and abnormalities.

• Note: Experts say every baby develops differently -- even in utero. These fetal development pages are designed to give a general idea of how a fetus grows in the womb. "

So I'm carrying a peapod! about 1 inch long hehe.

I'm feeling pretty good despite the sickness, bloating etc. I cry easily though, at tv, books lol.

Not sleeping very well, getting up 2 - 3 times in the night for a wee and then having difficulty getting back to sleep. Also really hot at night. There's me with my covers thrown off and hubbys so well wrapped up I can't see him lol. At least I don't need to get up and can go back to sleep after he's gone to work for a couple of hours hehe.

I have my first appointment with the midwife tomorrow, will probably be bombarded with questions. Hope she doesn't moan at me about my weight. BMI is 29 eeek, I have put on about 10lbs since starting IVF.

Ooh in 3 weeks I can dye my roots yay! hehe :D

8 Weeks Today!

It looks angry hehe :P

"Congratulations -- your embryo is now called a fetus, which means "offspring". Your uterus expands to accommodate its new resident, which now measures approximately 0.6 inch / 1.6 centimetres. Many changes take place this week -- the embryonic tail is gone, and all organs, muscles, and nerves are beginning to function. The hands now bend at the wrist, and the feet begin to lose their webbed appearance. Eyelids are beginning to cover the eyes.

Your pregnancy is changing your figure as well. Your breasts may have grown large enough that you'll need bigger bras with better support than your old ones. You may notice your waistline expanding as well, forcing you to pack away your favourite jeans until next year. If you drink plenty of fluoridated water -- eight glasses or more a day -- you should be getting enough fluoride so calcium and phosphorus will bond well in your baby's developing teeth and bones."

Didn't get up till 9.15 today, thats late for me, must have been tired. Still feel tired lol. Tummys starting to get unsettled so I am eating my Fruit N Fibre :)

Im officially off orange

Queasy pretty much all day today, it got to 5:00 before I started being sick, yuk. I'd also just had my tea, cheese on toast, orange flavoured yogurt and tropical fruit juice, now you see why I have gone off orange! Pretty much hate being sick, it makes me cry lol.

This is the last week of 2 pesseries a day, next week its 1 a day then i'm finished. The following wednesday, the 9th, I have an appointment with the midwife at the doctors.

Continuing with the vomit theme hehe, one of my cats joined me yesterday by puking all over the sofa! I'm blaming Willy!

Spare Room

Trying to clear out our spare room, I want to make it the nursery. Trouble is it has 6 years of accumulated clutter lol. I'm a hoarder, I like 'things' hehe. They breed, a lot :P

The landing is covered with stuff, stuff for the attic, (hubbys job) stuff for the dump, (his job again lol) general stuff that needs another home (can't bear to throw it away!) And the room is still full! Got to get rid of the double bed in there, if visitors want to stay theres a fold-up bed or the sofa lol.

I've decided to go with a jungle theme in there, gives me an excuse to paint animals hehe.

Have to keep laying/sitting down as I feel really queasy. Yes I'm eating my ginger nuts! Was sick again a while ago, but at least I feel a bit better afterwards :)
Vet Visit (Not Me lol)

Wasn't sick yesterday but queasy on and off most of the day. More so before dinner I think. Not sure which is worse feeling queasy or being sick, think I would rather be sick and get it over with. Getting constipated again, had prunes lol.

Belle, our female cat, has been limping on her front right paw since Saturday. Didn't seem to be getting better so we took her to the vet last night, he thinks its a sprain or something similar. She's on anti-inflammatories for 10 days. She normally hates the cat box, hates the vets, hates the car! but she was fine when we got home and ate her medicated food lol. I think she thought the vet groping at her leg was petting hehe.

Oh and my body pillow arrived in the post, thought it was wonderful at first, Hubby wants one! But it did get on my nerves a bit in the night, its bulky and I fidget changing sides, I almost wrenched my shoulder moving it! I got it to make me more comfy sleeping on my sides, I'm normally on my tummy. I will make myself get used to it hehe :D

Yep it's started!

First bout of morning sickness.

Woke up feeling queasy so I had some toast, haven't bought crackers or biscuits yet. Felt ok for about 30 mins then queasy again, like I was car sick. 2 hours later I was sick. So my hunger theory not quite accurate lol.

Apart from that feeling ok...um except by big toe! No idea what I did to start it off (I'm blaming Ashley, the cat, he sleeps by my feet and I reckon he bit it in the night!) but its enflamed like its ingrown and was very painful yesterday, but not so back today, weird hmm.

Morning Sickness?

Felt crappy all day yesterday, spent most of the day in bed reading. Felt sick whenever I was hungry, is that morning sickness?

I researched, as I do, have to know everything there is to know about everything lol, and yes, for some people thats morning sickness, hmmmm. Anyway was almost sick in the morning, nothing in tum so just dry heaves, sorry if T.M.I. lol.

Today I feel dizzy and a bit queasy on and off. But I think the other end is better, I hope .

7 Week Fetal Development

"Now about half an inch / 1.25 centimetres long, the size of a grape, the embryo has distinct, slightly webbed fingers and toes. It's a jumping bean, moving in fits and starts. The liver is churning out large amounts of red blood cells until the bone marrow forms and takes over this role.

The eighth week marks the beginning of a very busy developmental stage. Between now and 20 weeks, your baby will be growing rapidly, and body parts that formed in the first few weeks of life (such as the heart and brain) will become more specialised and complicated. Right now, the teeth and palate are forming, while the ears continue to develop. The fetus' skin is paper thin, and veins are clearly visible.
You're in the throes of the first trimester, when many women complain of common pregnancy aches and pains. Keeping food down may be next to impossible, thanks to morning sickness, caused in part by the pregnancy hormones in your body. You may also need to urinate a lot more often than usual -- your growing uterus is pressing on your bladder, and hormones are affecting the balance of fluid in your body. All will diminish as your pregnancy continues.

Exercise is good for you. Check out our fitness section to find out what forms of exercise are safe during pregnancy.

Upset tum

Bad tum from 4 o'clock yesterday, feels tender now. I'm sure the cats knocked me out and spent all night trampolining on it!

It's either:-

a) A bug
b) Dodgy food, (had breakfast in Debenhams)
c) IBS which is prob what it is.
d) Or maybe I have bad tum unstead of morning sickness, groan hope not!

Anyway went to Basingstoke shopping yesterday and bought some oversize clothes for when im bigger. Mostly vests, couldn't find any draw string trousers I like, will try looking in shops here. Got a new coat, my friend kindly called it a flasher mac lol.

Day Before Scan

I was just thinking, I am probably the same size now as I should be in about 6 months time hehehe, huge! I'm very bloated, also just had dinner and I'm at bursting point lol. We had stew, I know middle of summer but I just fancied it:)

Had a lukewarm bath a while ago as I had to shave my legs, and I could hardly reach, had to laugh. Hate trying to shave my legs in the shower, it just doesn't work :P

6 Weeks Fetal Development

fetal development at 6weeks

The embryo is the size of a lentil this week. If you could see inside yourself, you'd find the fetus has an oversized head in proportion to its body. The embryo's facial features are forming with dark spots where the eyes are, openings where the nostrils will be, and pits to mark the ears.

Protruding buds that will become the arms and legs are even more noticeable now. The embryo's hands and feet look like paddles. Other developments include the growth of the pituitary gland and muscle fibres. You can't hear it yet, but the heart (which has divided into the right and left chambers) is beating at about 150 beats a minute -- twice the rate of yours.

Halfway through this week, the embryo makes its first movements. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait until sometime in the second trimester before you get to enjoy feeling your baby's exercise sessions.

• Note: Experts say every baby develops differently -- even in utero. These fetal development pages are designed to give a general idea of how a fetus grows in the womb.

Scan this Thursday can't wait, wish I had one of those machines so I could look for myself hehe.

Not sleeping too well, partly the hot weather but also really hard not to sleep on my tummy. I know its early and it shouldn't matter yet, but its uncomfy what with sore boobs and bloated tum.
Wierd dreams too - Last night I was in a Russian newspaper shop and there was a huge tank with sharks in it. Someone had been bitten and I was trying to keep them still so I could sew up the wound, strange lol. And they also kept turning into a cat hmmm....

5 Weeks and 5 days

I haven't had any wierd cravings yet, but I always seem to be hungry, even when I can't possibly fit anything else in!
Lots of headaches too, or one continuous one with breaks in it, not fun :( Iv'e woken up this morning with another, oh well.

Still hot, I wish we could have a storm to clear the air a bit. Although I woke in the night freezing, had to get under my covers lol.
Still bloated, skin playing up a bit, not as bad as last time, phew :)
